Graduation Day

Lan Vwa, a school for the children of coffee farmers in Joconal, Guatemala, exists to educate and empower the children of local coffee farmers. This year, three remarkable young women—Neyli, Mayerlin, and Maydelin—crossed the stage to receive their diplomas, marking the beginning of exciting new journeys. Neyli will continue her studies in law, while Mayerlin and Maydelin are pursuing nursing—each following a path of service and leadership.
The ceremony was filled with joy and celebration. In a beautiful full-circle moment, three Lan Vwa alumni, now teachers themselves, returned to present the diplomas to this year’s graduates. Karina Leiva, one of the school’s directors, shared with HOPE Coffee that “after the ceremony, everyone gathered to share a meal — students, teachers, and families — making it feel more like a big family reunion than anything else.”
That sense of family is what makes Lan Vwa so special. As students and teachers learn and grow together—in both education and faith—they form lifelong bonds rooted in hope and love.
During the ceremony, Armando Leiva delivered an inspiring message drawn from the story of Esther, reminding the graduates that they are deeply loved by Jesus and called to represent their homes and communities with courage and faith.
Join us in praying for Neyli, Mayerlin, and Maydelin—for God’s provision, protection, and boldness as they pursue their careers and shine His light in the world.
