We’d like you to meet HOPE Coffee’s National Ministry Team.
HOPE Coffee is passionate about sharing the love of Jesus. We believe God has called us to Serve Better in the way that we serve the farmers who grow our coffee, our customers, and also the people who live where HOPE Coffee is grown. By meeting basic needs for families in crisis, we are able to share the love of Jesus in a very real way. Whether it is a new home for a family in Honduras, water filters for several families in Mexico, or education for children in Guatemala, each project is led by local pastors who want to serve their communities better. National Ministry Leaders in Honduras, Mexico and Guatemala oversee the ministry projects, making sure that the pastors have everything they need to properly care for the family in need.
We would like to introduce you to our National Ministry Leaders, who are carrying out the ministry of HOPE Coffee one family at a time.
Meet Abelardo.
National Ministry Team Leader: HOPE Coffee, Mexico
Abelardo, his wife Sandy, and his two daughters, Vania and Anita live in the Puebla region of Mexico. They are very active in their church in Puebla.. Sandy leads women’s Bible studies, Vania studies International Relations at a local college, and Anita studies music at the same local college. Both daughters are involved in a campus ministry where they share the gospel with fellow classmates.
Abelardo prepares Bible study lessons, sermons, and interacts with local pastors to discover project opportunities for HOPE Coffee. Pray for health, safety, and encouragement for Abelardo and his family as they serve Jesus in Mexico!
Meet Carlos.
National Ministry Team Leader: HOPE Coffee, Honduras
Carlos lives in Santa Barbara, Honduras with his wife, Carmen and their four children; Karla, Roberto, Carmen, and Carlos. Carlos and Carmen have been married for over 30 years, and Carlos has pastored their church, Dios Es Amor, for over 20 years. Karla and Roberto are planting a church in Chile with Karla’s husband Dario, who is Chilean. Carmen began her medical internship at the public hospital in Santa Barbara, and Carlos is finishing high school. Each of their children love the Lord and seek to serve Him in all that they do.
Carlos spends his days preparing church sermons, counseling couples, and communicating with local pastors in search of projects for HOPE Coffee. Carlos and his family have a deep history of coffee farming, so it brings him joy to work alongside HOPE Coffee’s mission. Pray for health, safety, and encouragement for Carlos and his family as they serve the Lord in Honduras!
Meet Karina.
Executive Director: Lan Vwa School, Guatemala
Karina and her daughter Ily live in Guatemala City, Guatemala where Karina serves as the Executive Director of Lan Vwa. Karina is the daughter of Armando and Norma Leiva, the Direct Trade coffee farmers who grow HOPE Coffee’s Guatemalan Light and Guatemalan Medium roasts. Through Lan Vwa, Karina is able to help provide higher education for the children of coffee farmers who otherwise only have access to education through 6th grade. She additionally serves as the Education Coordinator and spends her time helping teachers and students.
One of her favorite parts of her job is seeing children dream about career opportunities they otherwise wouldn’t be able to pursue. There are more children waiting for sponsorships that will allow them to study at Lan Vwa, so be in prayer for additional sponsors. If you are interested in sponsoring a child, learn more here. Pray also for health, safety, and encouragement for Karina and her family as they serve the Lord in Guatemala!
